The tour includes the 19th century Cushing House garden on High Street, and many magnificent hidden gardens including features such as fountains, koi ponds and unusual plant material. Visit historic Newburyport, known for its majestic seaport and now famous for its impressive Federalist architecture as well as its very special open spaces: a unique open waterfront, the US wildlife preserve on Plum Island (a10-mile-long barrier island with unspoiled beaches and unparalleled bird life) and the more than 400 acre Maudslay State Park (formerly the Moseley Estate) on a bluff overlooking the Merrimac River. Don't miss the Historical Society, the Maritime Museum and a wealth of excellent restaurants as well as performances and art exhibits at the architectural prize-winning Firehouse Center.
